When the world seemed crazy, well, more crazy than usual, and the world was in lockdown as Covid raged, it made us think a little differently about things...
If there's a place in Scotland for a book lover to visit, then it surely must be Wigtown. With over a dozen bookshops, as well as its annual literary festival, it's a bibliophiles dream!
So if you ever find yourself here, in beautiful Wigtownshire, Scotland, then please pay us a visit. You're bound to find something to love!
Living in a house full of books has always made us think that maybe a bookshop would be a good idea. But, as I said, the world was and still is, a little crazy, so is it the right time? Would it ever be the right time?
That was the descision. If you don't go for it now, then you probably never will. Who wants to pass the opportunity of running their own bookshop? Especially in the beautiful setting of Wigtown, in the heart of the Machars of South West Scotland.
And so, with a love of books already ingrained within our souls, a love of ephemera and an almost pathalogical fascination with history, especially that of Wigtownshire, we took the plunge.
...and where better to open a bookshop than in Wigtown, Scotland's National Booktown and home to the Wigtown Book Festival?
We took over the premises, a former gift shop, in April 2022 and love every minute of it!
